At Vom Faehnrich, we don’t just breed German Shepherds—we develop them into elite working dogs capable of excelling in Schutzhund and IGP (Internationale Gebrauchshund Prüfungsordnung) trials. These demanding sport disciplines test a dog’s obedience, tracking, and protection skills, and require a unique combination of genetics, temperament, and expert training. 

Originally developed in Germany, Schutzhund (now known as IGP) is a rigorous sport designed to evaluate the working ability of German Shepherds and similar breeds. It consists of three core phases: 

1. Tracking – Focus, scent work, and precision 
2. Obedience – Control, engagement, and teamwork 
3. Protection – Courage, control, and confidence under pressure 

A dog must pass all three phases to earn a title, and each level (IGP1, IGP2, IGP3) increases in difficulty.
